Eszter Boldov is not just a pretty face, the Hungarian born beauty also runs an online magazine titled ‘Philosophy’
We recently sat with Eszter to chat about her role at the magazine, her inspiration, and goals for the future.
Can you describe the role you play at the magazine?
I am one of the founders and the editor-in-chief. I write articles and kind of hold the whole thing together. I also styled a story for this issue but I wouldn’t say that I’m a stylist, It was just a fun photo shoot we organized with a few people. I am responsible for the whole thing and everything that is published in our issues.
Have you always wanted to be an editor?
It’s interesting because when I was little I wrote novels and my other hobby was designing clothes. I don’t think that I knew what an editor did back then but it’s interesting because in the end, my job combines writing and clothes. 😀 When I started modeling I knew that later I wanted to stay in the fashion industry but it surprised me as well that this came true so soon. (I was 18 when we started the magazine.)
What inspires you?
I try not to take inspiration from other publications, so I don’t buy any fashion magazines. I just read a lot and like fine art as well . I think this kind of inspires me, but actually I just want all my ideas to come from ‘inside’. My role at the magazine is not based on inspiration, I mean I am not a photographer or an artist. I am inspired by all those things that I see from the creative industry and kind of complete, connect or explain them.
Why did you start the magazine , what is your mission?
I used to be a blogger and when my agency saw that it was doing pretty well they offered their support and suggested to start an online magazine. The mission was to collect all the hungarian editorials and publications that didn’t have a professional platform and publish them, with nice, clean design and introduce them to the international fashion sphere. We had all the connections, the materials and the passion for the fashion industry and that was it. I think Philosophy became successful because we never tried to sell anything. Just wanted to show who we are, and intrigue people with something fresh and unexpected. We believe in the amazing talent of all the people who started the magazine with us.
What are your goals for the future?
I want to keep doing modeling and working on the magazine as well, sometimes it’s challenging but I like challenges 😀 This year was about traveling for me, I visited like 15 countries so it’s my new passion. I’d like to travel as much as I can, especially in Asia. But I have no plans for the far future, I always do what I feel like doing at that moment and I can not even predict what is gonna happen tomorrow, it’s too unpredictable.
